Sled Dogs at the Mill!

The dogs were out in the woods today for some racing practice. The cold air was biting, but it didn’t dampen the dogs’ enthusiasm and eagerness to run. The howling and barking of dozens of sled dogs filled the air and could be heard for quite a distance.

Dogs and their handlers participated in 3 races. The first race had dogs pulling their owners as they ran behind on foot. The second race had small teams of dogs pulling their handlers on bicycles or small vehicles. Larger teams pulled larger vehicles in the third race.

Dogs fought their harnesses waiting to be released and left starting line at full speed….

and returned having burned off all of that energy.

Warmth and hot chocolate were available in the Gift Shop and Blacksmith shop.
